In recognition of the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation, Brandeis University’s African and African-American Studies (AAAS) along with the History Department have invited Ta-Nehisi Coates of The Atlantic magazine to Brandeis for a public lecture. Coates is arguably one the most dynamic writers on issues of race in the journalism profession today, and is an avid historian of the Civil War.
