Professor Richard Lansing wins MLA Scaglione Publication Award

January 5th, 2013

Professor of Italian studies and comparative literature, Richard Lansing, has received the Modern Language Association’s Scaglione Publication award jointly with Professor Teodolinda Barolini of Columbia University. The award is for their manuscript, “Dante’s Lyrics: Poems of Youth and the Vita Nuova.” This honor comes as a special distinction for Lansing, as he worked with its namesake professor at U.C. Berkeley many years ago and also because this is his last year of teaching at Brandeis.

The MLA press release describes Lansing’s translations as “a valuable resource for an audience without access to Dante’s original Italian.”
